This is a topic I've wanted to talk about for a while now, because I think it's really important and could bring a lot of good to the gaming world, and is something that has been criminally over-looked over the years.
For those who don't remember (or never played), Warcraft 3 (and Starcraft) had a custom game lobby. Essentially, how it worked was this: Players could create custom maps using the built-in map editor (which was powerful, but fairly easy to do basic stuff in). Then, they could go to the online lobby and create a game with their custom map, which others could then join. Those players would then automatically download the map, and then later they could choose to re-host the map to further spread the new map, assuming they liked it.
This created a sort of impromptu 'survival of the fittest' filter on games in the lobby, as only games that people liked to play would propagate further than a few people. The more popular your game, the more people would want to host it, spreading it further, getting more people who might like it, and so on. If enough people liked it, then a game could easily become self-sustaining, maintaining a consistent presence in the lobby purely through the actions of the players, rather than any kind of sorting algorithm.
This alone created an interesting environment to create games in, but the next step was the important one. Once you downloaded a game that someone else made, you were completely free to go in and change it with the map editor that everyone has. Maybe you'd just make one little tweak, or make a bigger change, or even completely re-build the game to be what you think it should be. Regardless, you were free to build upon what was already there however you want, and then upload that new map to the lobby to try and get people to play your version of the game.
While this might seem horrible to a professional game developer, as essentially the second person is 'stealing' the game from the first, that's the wrong way to look at it. Protecting your IP as a professional is important since your career could very well rely on it, but for an amateur who has no way to monetize their work, at worst they are loosing a bit of prestige and recognition. And while that does suck, the benefits that come with this system are well worth that loss, in my opinion. Gta 5 ps3 download torrent.
What benefits, you say? Well, remember how games only do well if players decide to re-host your game, essentially voting with their feet? Well with random people adding random mods (of varying quality), we've essentially introduced mutation to the system. Now custom games not only need to compete with other games, but also variations of the same game that various people have made.
And that's the true beauty of this kind of system. It's natural selection applied to game design. This, I firmly believe, is what allowed Warcraft 3 to spawn multiple new genres, most notably the now incredibly popular MOBA (started by AoS/DotA), but also the Tower Defense. And while those are the two that escaped WC3 to become big outside of the modding scene, there was a huge variety in game types and play experiences.
And aside from making for great games for players, this environment was also great for aspiring designers and developers. The free-for-all nature of the WC3 lobby meant that anyone could try their hand at game design and/or development and get feedback very quickly by simply hosting a game. And there were plenty of people willing to join random games with no clue what to expect.
As a designer, being able to not only create a game of your own design, but also hear what other people think about it, specifically other people who don't know you and won't give you a biased response.
Unfortunately, Blizzard, and now Steam and other game developers/publishers, have looked at DotA and taken the entirely wrong lesson. They see DotA and think, 'Wow, there's a lot of untapped potential out there, how can we make our system better for the next Icefrog?' And while Icefrog is certainly a very talented person and played a large role in making DotA what it is today, he isn't the person who invented MOBAs.

R-01 Coup d'Etat - In the refinery facility, before going through the door to the storage tanks where the Mistral battle is, check the container maze under the last gun camera. The cardboard box guy is hiding in one of the shipping containers. Metal gear rising sam sword. GUESS WHO LIKES YOU.
Instead, MOBAs were invented by dozens, perhaps even hundreds of people over the course of many years. It was made by everyone who ever opened up AoS or DotA or any other MOBA in the WC3 map editor and tweaked something here, added something there. It was an iterative process, the proverbial thousand monkeys mashing on the keyboards, that slowly morphed a nebulous idea from something interesting into something compelling and enjoyable to play.
That, I think, is the lesson to be learned from DotA and WC3. Don't try to encourage developers to make mods for your games by offering modders things that developers want. Don't turn modding into game development. Instead, embrace the strengths of the modding scene, and leverage those strengths into an open, free, and competitive environment that values the mods and the players, not the individual modders. Make the modding scene a place where creativity can thrive.

I support the remake of Diablo 2 but alongside that i think Warcraft 3 the one that gave birth to the core idea of both MOBA games and World of Warcraft deserves to be reborn.
The creative editor made simple for players gave endless inspiration for players and could be used by blizz as trend spotting or brainstorm.
Better graphics along with more tools into a new improved editor would be enough :)

'I support the remake of Diablo 2'
I think Blizzard only loves forward, thus why d3 was born.
however there is fan-based mods that are actively a WiP for the game desired in HD

I think everyone supports HD remakes of Blizzard's older games, but it doesn't matter. Blizzard will do what they want.

I think it would be in Blizzards best interest to release even just a HD models/textures version before they start heading towards Warcraft 4 or something like that. It would get players from the next generation (SCII) into Warcraft 3 and understand why it was such an important game that influenced so many future games.
Just my 2c

Are there any updates?
Brood War/WarCraft III is also where Tower Defense games came from.
Every link 404'd
blizzard will never remaster there old warcraft games because new players who never played them before will see the glaring holes in the story created by WoW and blizzard wants people to think WoW is the real warcraft which obviously it isnt
Warcraft 3 Mods
Remaking the first warcraft, like rumours claim is happening to starcraft would be amazing and fun. Just like rumours are claiming that starcraft will get the HD, gameplay and ui updates, i would love it if they do the same to the warcraft line then.
Updated cinematics, more lore into it then they could at those times and such things could lure new players besides those who already want it to enjoy the games and lore.

Most needed are:
1. Balance changes - multiplayer meta is extremely stale and some units/heroes are god-like while most others are crap.
2. Maphack and disconnect hack fixes!
3. Only 1 battle.net account per Warcraft 3 CD Key! Anyone banned for cheating will invalidate their War3 CD key for multiplayer/battle net.
4. User Interface improvements: allow us to select more than 12 units! Something like Starcraft 2 where you can select an almost unlimited number of units at once and order them all.

I'd add a 5 to this: improved searchtimes by wider matching range, and preferably, cross-realm matchmaking, especialy for east/west but also for europe too. Asia is probably better off as it's own thing considering the distance/ping/language barrier.
